Hard-bitten and angry with the world, Logan, the Earl of Goldthwaite has pulled himself up out of the mire and intends to show members of society that he is every bit as good as they are. He is known for his ruthless dealings in business, but despite the wealth he has accumulated, he has still not won the respect and admiration of his peers. A meeting with the Duke of Darlington, whom we have previously met, steers him in a new direction, one that brings about a change of mind and heart. Miss Penny Walters needs funds to run her orphanage and Darlington pairs her up with the Earl of Gold. Even though he has no intention of having any personal dealings with Penny, Logan finds himself becoming protective towards her, shielding her from bullies in her neighourhood, and ultimately finding solutions to her problems. One cannot help but feel for Logan and the battles he has fought, however it is Penny's nobel spirit and loving heart that truly work their magic. This heartwarming story is more than a romance, as it brings to the fore the nature of a love that has the power to melt hardened hearts and change lives. The novel is well written and entertaining and although part of a series, is a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Earl of Gold is an outstanding historical romance by Tammy Andresen. This is a fairly quick read, perfect for those with limited reading time. Ms. Andresen has given readers a well-written book. The characters are a delight and make this story only better. Logan, the Earl of Goldthwaite, concentrates on increasing his wealth after his father left him penniless. Penny was sent to an orphanage after her father's death and hated it. Now she has little money but dreams of taking care of the children she's taken in and creating her own orphanages. Logan and Penny's story is packed with drama, humor, action, spice and suspense. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Tammy Andresen soon. Earl Of Gold is book 7 of the Lords of Scandal Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

USA Today Bestselling Author, Tammy Andresen lives with her husband and three children just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. She grew up on the Seacoast of Maine, where she spent countless days dreaming up stories in blueberry fields and among the scrub pines that line the coast. Her mother loved to spin a yarn and Tammy filled many hours listening to her mother retell the classics. It was inevitable that at the age of 18, she headed off to Simmons College, where she studied English literature and education. She never left Massachusetts but some of her heart still resides in Maine and her family visits often.
