I had read the entire story that goes beyond this and in that series the character would remark to Tenn how impressed they were with him in 'The Trials'. This book tell the story of those trials and how he and the Knights were chosen. I wish I had read this first and embarked on the series second but it was still a great read to find out about the backstory.

Wicked Trials is the prequel of a new series. In this great story we get to meet the contenders for the position of knight that must protect the Witch Queens. This story is well written and each character makes you want to know more about them. I can't wait to read more

Overall, I enjoyed the story, and will be reading the rest of the series. It's a nice intro to Tuck, and the Guardians.

There are only two complaints. First, is just nitpicky, but in the start of the book, Tuck is only 6yrs old. Except, the story is told in first person, & he never has a six year old's voice. It was a little bit of a disconnect, but only a few pages, so it's not a deal breaker, and didn't lose any stars.

Second, and if the book were any longer this might have made me put it down, there are so, so many errors. Typos, grammatical errors, changing from past to present tense. Multiple instances of the wrong word (nervous instead of nerves, for example), wrong version of a word (too, which should have been to), and extra words. These errors really disrupt the flow of the story, and 99% could have been corrected by a good proofreader or beta reader. I knocked off 2 stars because of the continuous issue.

I'm glad I stuck with it because I enjoyed the story. I hope these errors can be corrected for a future edition. That would earn it a solid 5 stars.

I really enjoyed the story, but you need to be aware that there were a TON of misspellings, typos, misused words, etc. So many that it really interrupts the flow of things as you try to figure out what the author really meant. If that bothers you, then it'll be a problem. I suggest a good editor or beta readers. Aside from that, it's a fun story and a really great chance to meet all of the knights in the beginning. I haven't read the other books in the series, but this got me interested in continuing.

If you've read the Wicked Court books then you already know how badass Tucker and the other Knights are. It was nice to see how the Knights did and what they endured during the Trials that we've heard so much about. Tucker's first reaction to Zinnia is priceless. It makes you love them even more.
