About this ebook

Nartan Sagebrush's name may mean "to dance" in Arapaho, but he dances in secret. Forced to abandon his Shamanic apprenticeship, he is overwhelmed with homesteader life, and even his spirit guides are at their wit's end. Nartan takes fate into his own hands. Instead of divine intervention, a wife will help with his responsibilities and in assimilating into the Wylder community. Olive Muegge answers Nartan's "wife wanted" advertisement. Wildly independent she has secretly dreamed of a family to call her own. The secret she carries inside makes her an outcast and her wild ways don't fit the quiet wife Nartan thinks he desires. Despite their differences, they are drawn to each other but a mistake may drive them apart. Will Nartan embrace his Shamanic past to save them both or will he choose to rid himself of Olive forever?

"Quiet wife for a quiet life..." . . . The best part of this book for me is the characters. I love Olive Muegge’s personality and strength. She is a woman who knows herself well and is not afraid to stand up to the world and push back if necessary. Nartan Sagebrush, an Arapaho shaman, is also a wonderful character who commands my respect. And the two of them together is fun. Although he might not find his “quiet partner” the way he envisioned, the two of them definitely complete each other in the best of ways. I enjoyed the story line and the relationship that was created with these two special people. It was a pleasure to get to know them. Grab your copy and follow their relationship as they learn to be there for each other.

Dance to a Wylder Beat Another engrossing tale from the Wylder, Wyoming series. Olive responds to Nartan’s ad for a wife and the wyld action begins right from the moment Olive arrives. Nartan soon realizes he’s not gaining the biddable spouse he thought he needed to help him assimilate better into Wylder. Instead he and Olive get just what they need in each other. If there ever was a more unique and strangely likable heroine than Olive I have yet to meet her. Her banter with solemn ex-Shaman Nartan entertains but soon the warm feelings they evoke in each other become the stuff of a long-lasting, strong, give and take relationship. Olive speaks her mind and Nartan is drawn to her no nonsense, non-cooking yet nurturing ways. Olive’s positive effect on Nartan’s younger, selectively mute? brother is extraordinary and as they all begin to open up and share aspects of themselves they dared not show others, the trust is beautiful to witness. No spoilers. Enjoy this well written well researched step back in time.

This is a wonderfully original story compared to anything else I have read. I enjoyed the FMC’s “spunk” and the MMC’s aggravation with her. The sweet younger brother is almost more interesting than the MC’s. It’s full of the kind of quirky I have found in many of Ms. Barr’s books. It was a good afternoon read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
