About the author
Dr. Marlin Cluts has written Brain Buzzed for people who like their info direct and on-point, minus the excess prose.
He retired from business as CEO of a community bank. Along the way he earned a doctorate degree in Human Performance Technology, with studies leading to hundreds of fascinating articles and books about how our minds work. Brain Buzzed represents 39 of the most useful concepts.
His business background drives a concise writing style contributing to easy comprehension and efficiency.
However, he has negotiated the rigors of academics. An article based on his dissertation was published in an Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) journal, triggering over 1500 downloads from other researchers.
The article for ACM was written in academic form, exactly the opposite of Brain Buzzed. He hopes you enjoy Brain Buzzed's brevity and the compression of information into short form.
Visit his web site at www.brainbuzzed.com for more info. There's also a blog with updates on book topics. You may also leave feedback, which is always appreciated. Email: clutses@outlook.com

Cluts takes our incredibly complicated brain actions and simplifies them so we laymen can understand what is happening in our heads. This is a quick read as the author has intentionally made his information easily digestible to the reader. If you'd like to grasp the essence of what your brain does and not get overwhelmed with medical and scientific information, then read this book. You will have a better understanding of why you and others do things.
If you wonder how people can be so mistaken in their basic beliefs and thinking processes this book will provide you with the facts based upon science. Indeed, I have always been amazed at how ignorant and misinformed people are on so many subjects. I am very disappointed that so many people seem to fail at using reason, logic, the scientific method, and just plain common sense in their lives. The truly scary part is how we humans do not seem to learn from history and our own mistakes, and keep repeating the same mistakes and procedures even though time and time again they have proven to be wrong? Maybe our minds are wired to accept slavery rather than freedom since most of the history of humankind has been run by ruthless dictators, who in many cases have been voted in by the majority of the population?
In any case, this book will (hopefully) open your eyes and mind to make better decisions based upon actual scientific facts. This excellent book is organized into two detailed parts covering an enormous amount of material.
Some of these topics include Patterns where none exist, brain shortcuts, subconscious assistance, confirmation bias, information overload, neuroplasticity, neurogenesis, thoughts count, your brain on exercise, talking to yourself, paying attention, increasing IQ, activity and Alzheimer’s, your brain on laughter, your brain at work, creating positivity and many other very interesting and informative essays.
In conclusion, I loved this book and learned so much valuable facts. In fact, I am keeping this book because it is an excellent scientific reference source on the mind.
Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Tactical Principles of the most effective Combative Systems).
Spoiler alert - when the author tells you to go look something up or do an exercise, do it BEFORE reading ahead .Not doing so could affect your outcome.
Brain function and science has always fascinated me, and this book did not disappoint. Well done, Mr. Cluts!

Wow. This book was a good read.
It has everything. Interesting theories, information about our brain, our happiness, our health, the list goes on. It poses questions for ourselves.
It’s really insightful.
I like the way it is sectioned into 39 segments, which flow from one to another.
It helps to not become one big list of theories and facts.
It’s not too serious and the sections aren’t too long.
But it does offer suggestions for further reading on the different subjects within the different segments, if you would like.
(I will certainly be following some of these up.
I never read books again.
But I will this one as it is so interesting I will take the time to ponder on it.
Well done Martin Cluts.
A very smart and interesting read.
