About this ebook

Apple cider, bonfires, football, and—ghosts.

It’s homecoming weekend in Sugarland, Tennessee, and ghost hunter Verity Long is tickled to see so many souls—living and dead—back in town to celebrate. But not all reunions are happy ones, and when Verity stumbles upon a dead body by the football field, it appears someone has already evened the score.

With her long-lost mother in tow and her ghostly sidekick Frankie showing her startling glimpses of a time long past, Verity untangles the secrets and scandal behind her town’s favorite traditions. Even more shocking? The murderer is tracking her. And before she can discover the final truth that leads her to a cold-blooded killer, she may just be the one who loses the game.

I like this series and this book was good. I loved getting to see Verity interacting with her mom and step-dad. The family dynamics between them, as well as her sister, were easily relatable. The mystery was good though I wondered early if I knew who the bad guy was and I was right. Frankie has some major character development and Molly may have had the most! She blew my mind in this book! Living in a small town, I could totally relate to how a town gets involved in the Homecoming madness. Thank you to Angie Fox, NetGalley, and Moose Island Books for giving me the chance to read this story and share my honest thoughts and opinions with others.

It's homecoming week in Sugarland TN and everyone is back in town for the opening of the time capsule of 1985, it was supposed to be opened in 100 years, but since they are remodeling the area they are uncovering it now. Even Verity's mom is coming back for the reunion but not everyone is happy with the uncovering... I have to say I'm partial to this book, for one, I'm not sure if I'm in a book slump or what but I definitely wasn't a fan of Verity this time around, I thought she was a little bit presumptuous and annoying which bothered me since I love this series so much. Also, it was very disturbing the relationship she was with her mom and just hated both of them. Frankie's story was entertaining but I felt like he didn't have a lot of presence in the investigation itself like past books and neither did Ellis. The mystery was a little bit obvious which was a first for me and I think this story would have been better as a novella instead and maybe learn a little bit more about Verity's mom because she does act like she doesn't care about them that much and they didn't actually explain anything about that. Somehow my favorite thing was Melody getting cozy with someone (not spoiling anything here) and Molly as a character because she was just awesome. I'm still a fan of the series and will devour next book, but this one just missed a mark for me.

It's Homecoming time in Sugarland! During the celebration the town will also be opening a time capsule earlier than planned due to expansion to the football field area. Verity's mom, Tilly, and her stepdad are in town for the event. Tilly even brought a cute outfit for Verity's pet skunk Lucy to wear to homecoming! Unfortunately once the time capsule is open Verity is busy helping her boyfriend Ellis solve an old murder mystery with her ghostly partner Frankie and the "help" of Verity's mom. This was a fun read and one of my favorites in this series. It was nice finally being introduced to Verity's mother and stepdad. I hope to see them in future books. The homecoming events were fun. I like the relationship between Frankie and Molly. They're a cute couple!
