I liked this short story or maybe just introduction to the series. Lovely characters and entertaining storyline. He doesn’t want to be in the public and she will enter any arrangement to make her life a little bit easier. They found that they were really good match. Daniel, Lord Tremayne, has a terrible stammer and hides his troubles by limiting his speech and having a few close friends. That is until he is introduced to the widow Dorothea. She too has also had a sad and sheltered life and due to destitution and with the help of her friend, she decides on the course of seduction and agrees to become Daniel's mistress. I like the way the author deals with this difficult condition and I liked Daniel, particularly when he comes head to head with someone with the same affliction. I truly felt for him as I did for Dorothea in her reduced cirmstances but I feel very short changed by the abrupt and cliff hanger ending.

Destitute, she owes rent for her room in Seven Dials and needs to get away from her abusive landlord. With very little to eat and no hope for a job, she meets a mistress who persuades her to become one to a specific gentleman. Thea is thankful to have a home and someone to take care of her. Daniel just wants a mistress, until he realizes she is an innocent, though married for eight years. The first book in the series continues in Lusty Letters.
