About this ebook

Enter the Teutonic Fantasy Realm in this enchanting first in series urban fantasy featuring elemental witches and time travel.

“All of history is open to you now. You need only to choose which era you want to claim as your own.”

I’ve got enough magic going on in my life. It’s tough to integrate with society when you can summon ice in the heat of summer. But now I’m charging ahead toward a normal life: I’m going to college, and then I’ll work at my father’s corporation. My ice magic can take a back seat for a while.

Unfortunately, fate had other plans when it led me to a fairy, a gorge—and a demonic relic rumored to harbor the power over time itself. Great.

Using this thing might go against my beliefs, but I have to protect it, if nothing else. And maybe along the way I’ll get brave enough to admit my feelings for Hans, my most trusted mentor. No problem that he’s a Teuton priest, my father’s accountant, and utterly uninterested in romance. What could go wrong?

Arcane Gateway is book 1 in the His Name Was Augustin series. It features an ice witch in a forbidden age gap romance with a fire mage as they confront a time portal guarded by a demon. It includes strong language, graphic violence, sexual situations, and mature themes.

This book held my attention and became more intriguing as I read but also was becoming a little long and wondering when was it going to end. Well, low and behold, there was no ending!!

Arcane Gateway, a new fantasy which is developing a genre all its own. Set in the Bavarian section of modern Germany, the story involves a curious young girl, Swanie von Thaden, who does not always known her own mind, and at times has even less government over her emotions. She is only recently discovering her unique elemental magic gifts passed down by her German Teutonic tribal heritage. A discovery unwanted by her father, who holds very serious antagonism, perhaps with good reason, toward anything regarding Teutonic elemental magic. Regardless of this opposition, the discovery of her elemental gifts becomes a major facet of her life, curiosity and destiny. Attempting to live a relatively normal life, she finds herself falling in love with her Teutonic mentor, an experienced man some 20 years her senior, and finds that the love is mutual. Her mentor must, however, at all costs refuse this love adventure. In the midst of all this tumult she accidentally discovers an ancient Teutonic means of time travel shown her by a rarely seen magical creature of the forest, and embarks on a short journey through time. This short journey only wets her appetite for greater adventure into the past. The story ends with a planned jump several centuries into the past to observe a major crisis lived out by her Teuton ancestors. Cannot wait until the second book to see how this trip will turn out!

About the author

C.L. Carhart has been writing since the age of 4, dabbling in everything from children’s books, to fantasy, to historical fiction. Eventually, her lifelong interest in European history inspired her to create a paranormal fantasy realm based on the Teutonic people groups. The His Name Was Augustin series provides a first glimpse at this other-world—a place rife with ancient mysteries and dark magic.

Born and raised in southern New Jersey, C.L. spends her free time hiking with her husband, enjoying metal music, snuggling her feline familiars, and dreaming of the wonders of Germany.
