They survive a nightmare – but they don't escape unscathed.

When FBI profiler Nathan Thomas meets Bella Amsel, he realizes she might very well be his dream girl. Too bad she has a stalker that neither of them know about - at first.

A harrowing ordeal puts Nathan and Bella face to face with pure evil. Little do they know – it’s only the beginning.

The psychopath obsessed with Bella isn’t giving up that easily.

Will Nathan sacrifice everything he stands for to keep Bella safe?

The Vital Secrets is a suspenseful crime thriller series chronicling FBI profiler Nathan Thomas and his team’s cases, who capture serial killers while also juggling their personal and professional lives. While each suspenseful, riveting title in this series can be read as a standalone, readers will find maximum enjoyment if these full-length books are read in order - because while there are no cliffhangers, there is character growth over the series. If you enjoy the works of Elle Gray, Mary Burton, Lucinda Berry, Melinda Leigh and Pete Zacharias, the Vital Secrets series should make for a very enjoyable read!

Book of Secrets is perfect for readers who enjoy fast-paced, action-filled crime thriller novels that are brimming with unexpected twists and turns and feature FBI profilers.

These 5 star raters either read a different book or buddies of the author. While I enjoy crime mysteries and stories with FBI, profiling and forensic details, this book really was shallow, the crimes were so quickly solved that truly unrealistic, I am sure any FBI agent that could solve and link serial killers within a day would wish that was true, the story lacked background details about forensics etc.. So many coincidences of characters just happening to know and meeting other main character family members even across country became silly. The relationships were really predictable and proceeded so quickly that again unrealistic. no mystery here. probably would be good as a teen mystery book. the angle of nano technology causing mind controlled zombies was really so goofy and unrealistic. glad it was free.

I don't even know what I just read. Everything from the storyline to the cheesy, underdeveloped characters is so unrealistic and black and white, it makes you wonder on what planet they live. Three times love at first sight in one book, three hot guys with chiseled bodies who call their significant other "baby" or "babe". The hero, a virgin into his late twenties, who has waited all these years for someone special. It is all just a little too much to be believable. Also, there is little tension, even as a serial killer is on the loose. Whatever suspense there might have been, it was drowned out by the annoying emphasis on the too good to be true players. The villain, however, is thoroughly evil, although we do not know what got him there. Most writers make at least an attempt to explain some of the background, but here he is just the evil son of an evil father, who wants to resurrect the third reich. How inventive!

This is book four of the Vital Secrets series and the main character is Grant Forrester, who has just received a huge promotion at his job for The Best of Texas magazine. He can now go ahead and write the sort of articles he wants, rather than just correct others copy all the time. He decides to write a series of articles about the old forts along the state of Texas, for the magazine and starts to plan out his route and who to speak with at each site. What he doesn’t know, is that a killer is following his footsteps and killing people he is connected to through his articles. Leaving a trail of bodies all he hopes will be linked to Grant! Grant was enjoying his new job, being a history buff as well as loving journalism and writing. Now he gets to combine the two together and bring the rich history these old historic building have, that show how Texas was brought into being and what it has to offer with all the celebrations and historic re-enactments that take place throughout the year along the route. There are a lot of different groups of characters introduced in the storyline, all having their place and linking to Grant and his family, or the group of FBI agents, led by FBI Profiler Nathan Thomas. He is joined by a new agent, Lizzie, who had been a police officer for a number of years, but changed her job and retrained as an FBI agent. The first few murders seem unconnected, until yet another shooting using the same calibre of weapon and ammo, brings a connection and the FBI are called in to help. Grant seems to be the only link and identified by a number of witnesses, but they can’t find him easily. He could be a serial killer or just another innocent victim in this killer’s trial of destruction. The FBI have to follow the clues they have and Nathan’s gut tells him Grant is innocent, but they soon find too much evidence that shows he is guilty. A wonderful twist in the story, in this case, which is unexpected and gives the reasoning behind all the killings. Lot of background with all the characters involved and brings them all to life. If you have read any of the other books in the series, you will know a good few of them, but you don’t have to have read any to enjoy reading this one as a standalone read. I can’t wait to read more of this series and see what secrets that will uncover. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
