About this ebook

The international bestselling series with over 5 million copies sold in the U.S. alone!

For years, the Kingdom of Araluen has prospered, with the evil lord Morgarath safely behind the impassable mountains. For years, its people have felt secure. But the scheming hand of the dark lord has not been idle. . . . On a special mission for the rangers, Will and his friend Horace, an apprentice knight, travel to a neighboring village and discover the unsettling truth: all the villagers have either been slain or captured. Could it be that Morgarath has finally devised a plan to bring his legions over the supposedly insurmountable pass? If so, the king's army is in imminent danger of being crushed in a fierce ambush. And Will and Horace are the only ones who can save them.

Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Will in this book is pathetic and stupid. The book doesn't even really focus on him, he is a bit character in his own book. The end is garbage. The plot is lazy. It tries to say he is skilled a focus yet he is always distracted. He literally gets knocked out by a thrown rock because he let's a group fo enemies get to within 30 ft to get a better shot then forgets all about them to have a conversation with someone. This was just a disappointing story.

I originally bought the first book for my son to have something to read over the summer about 8 years ago. It sat on the shelf for a few months until one day I picked it up and started reading it. I couldn't put it down and after I finished I had to get the rest. this intrigued my son and he started the series. I'm now 43 and my son is 21. we habe read every Ranger's Apprentice book 3× each and I am working through Brotherband and Royal Ranger. Absolutely the best story ever!! Deserves 100☆

This book is definitely worth reading. It contains a lot of action and courage. I was shocked when I read to the part were will and Evanlyn were taken prisoner by the Skandians. I was caught of guard when Horace challenged Morgarath, but at the same time I wanted to see how well both of them were with their fighting skills. I also wanted to skim to the end and see what happened to will and Evanlyn. Wondering what Halts next move would be, wondering if he would go to Skandia, I was forced to wait for answers
