So many references to Konkow habits, etc kind of ruined the romance for me. Yes their cultures were different but it did not stop their hearts from loving each other or their bodies from wanting each other. Too much detail about furniture, habits, cultures just take from the story. I usually really like this author but this one didn't do it for me.

Oh what an epic tale! I loved it and couldn't put it down. Sakote was a dear man and I found all the Indian culture very interesting. Mattie was beautiful and feisty and I admired her for her determination to fit into Sakote's world. The descriptions of the setting of the story were vivid and made you feel like you were there. Definitely one of my favourate books.

First time reading this author. Since then, I've read 3 more in two weeks. Thank you for "I can't put it down." You know her story's are heroic of women that are strong yet vulnerable when it comes to love.
