Two men fall in love in this LGBTQA+ audiobook set in Ethiopia, a country where homosexuality is illegal. When he visits East Africa for work, the last thing Dominican-American Desta expects is a workplace relationship. Ethiopian Elias is torn between meeting obligations to his family and going to graduate school in the U.S., where he can openly be his true self. Narrator Braeden Sinclair has a smooth voice that is pleasing to hear; however, one may be easily distracted by his slow pacing. Little differentiation between the characters’ voices makes it difficult to follow conversations. Though the story is set in a foreign country, and includes characters of varying nationalities, the narration has little variety—especially in accents. This production is best for those without picky listening tastes. A.L.S.M. © AudioFile 2020, Portland, Maine
