4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 2,977 ratings

A secret book club. A celebrity murder. And a boss that hates books…

When Laura Lee and her club stumble on the dead body of Mrs. Fitzwater’s nephew, (famous photographer to the stars, Andy) snooping takes on a whole new meaning. Especially when one of the house staff—and member of the book club—swears they saw the nephew later that night… very much alive. From whispers of espionage to the motive of a spurned lover, the book club collective isn’t sure which way is up. Even worse, time is running out as the killer makes them the next target. Someone doesn’t want to be found out and is willing to do anything to keep their secret.

Hi, there! I'm CeeCee James, USA Today bestselling author who first started this writing world as a kid and continued on with bedtime stories for my own kids. I have a few mystery series --the Baker Street Mysteries, Angel Lake Cozy Mysteries, Flamingo Realty, Oceanside Hotel mysteries and more! I love creating new worlds and puzzling through cozy murder mysteries. My favorite sleuths are curious, kind, and a bit flawed. But they all learn that being flawed isn't being broken, and that's a life lesson I work on for myself.

My favorite cozy mysteries always have a dash of humor, maybe a tinge of romance, animals, and tons of friendship. There are always a few of my favorite pups, and a kitten or two. I love the small town feel with a hint of juicy gossip and friendly relationships that comes with it. I also love good food and my characters love it too! That's why a bunch of my mysteries include free recipes.

I have a few published in Large Print paperback and as audio books.

One of my favorite places to write is curled up this fat oversized chair I found on sale someplace, with a cup of coffee. Usually there are dogs sleeping by my feet, or in the chair with me where somehow they double in size to hog up all the space. :)

Writing has been a life long passion of mine. My first published work is nonfiction Ghost No More. Most of all I love writing about the celebration of life.

Light read, entertaining. I didn't want any deep thinking (lol), and this was perfect. This book was purely for entertainment, and it more than met that requirement.

Mrs. Fitzwater’s nephew, Andy suddenly passes away at a party at Ms. Janices'.
Mrs. Fitzwater asks the book club to look into it and even includes herself as one of the people Andy had taken advantage of with his get rich quick schemes.

Pro's:
Developed characters, and a fun storyline.
Con's:
I didn't understand the blurb.
No member of the book club was targeted.
Also several typo's in the story.

This mystery like the one before it was really intriguing and kept me guessing. The storyline was incredible and I Love the people involved and their shenanigans to get to the answer of the house mystery. I highly recommend these books. They are Amazing and Fun to read. Very entertaining.

This is book 2 but you can read it if you’ve not read book one. You will appreciate it more if you can read book one first though.

Because the”book club” solved the murder from the first book, the neighbor wants to hire the girls to find out what happened to her nephew at one of Ms Janice’s dinner parties. The girls at first are hesitant but for the amount of money she’s offering they decide to try. And since two of them like to ask questions and find clues it comes naturally to them.

This isn’t as good as book one but it’s still a very good book.

It has no sexual references or language so I can recommend this book to anyone who wants a good mystery to read.

I started out thinking this was amateurish, but soon started to wonder.... whodunit? There were a lot of similes which I find tiresome. I also don't care for first person voice and I didn't get connected with the characters. I did give it 5 stars as the plot was well laid out leaving me guessing to the end.
