I can smell the red earth after the heavy rains! We lived in Zanzibar. Mama Rose is a senior like me, so another connection. She's quck witted, clear headed and determined but also brings her own baggage along, which adds depth to these stories. The authour highlights East African topics too. Not many writers can keep a series going but Ms Tait can. A beautiful and absorbing read.
