This book left me speechless and very teary eyed. I haven't cried while reading a book in a very long time. It was hard to read at times, because most of the material was relatable. While reading this book, I couldn't help but to reflect on my grandmother. She was born in 1927, a very different time then we live in today. One day my mom, grandmother, and myself were going to the park. My grandmother said as we got there "those people want like us being here". My mother proceeded to say "what people". I then said "It's a park everyone is welcome grandma". At the time I couldn't understand why she said that. Now that I'm older I understand my grandmother's hesitation. Growing up for her there were a lot of places she couldn't go because the color of her skin. A beautifully written book, I think to help push society's biggest issue racism head on. I was hoping for a different ending. Hoping that magically somehow Belle would end up pregnant. I could go on and on about this book. ❤

I absolutely adored this book. Each page kept me attached. Reading this book made me want to write again. It reminded me of the grief that I have to process and the love I desire so badly to achieve. I cried and laughed and cried some more. And laughed again. This book deserves 10 stars.
