Katarina: The One Goddess (Book 1). Slow Burn Paranormal Romance Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 104 ratings

An orphan. A deity. And a kiss that breaks hell loose.

And it was a scorching hot kiss, too. My name is Katarina. Last week I was stuck in a dead-end life with a soul-sucking government job as my only future. I figured I’d die there.

Then Kaden blitzed into my life with those golden, all-seeing eyes of his. I should have been suspicious. Instead, I was swept away in a glorious tide of Kaden’s affections. With one kiss, he ignited my world; and not just in a good way. Becoming a goddess comes with risks. With the government chasing me and a rebellion hounding me… everybody suddenly knows who I am — and I don’t like it. And that deity who started all this trouble?

Well, he’s also a shifter. Three shifters, to be exact, and they’re all mine. Or I’m theirs; depends who you ask. Oh. And I have to master my magic. If I don’t figure out my new powers fast enough? I’ll die. No pressure, right?

Anne is a fantasy romance and paranormal romance author who is currently coauthoring books with her good friend Liz Cain. She loves creating and sharing stories, especially when helping others bring their stories to others. Anne knows life is all about stories: they impact lives and shape the world.

When she is not thinking about a plot or storyline, Anne hangs with Harry, Mal, Spiderman and Minnie Mouse. “Odd human being” they say “eats apples with salt and loves dried yogurt balls.” Her amazing husband and awesome three little ones couldn’t agree more.

Her passion project is helping other indie authors publish their own books and develop their own brands, especially if they wouldn't have been able to do so without her help.

I enjoy the building of a backstory, and this one is definitely thought provoking. I can’t put my finger on the source of this feeling that it is a mix of manga and paranormal but at times it felt like that was what I was reading. Now, I know some will be drawn to the reverse harem tag while others will be put off, to be clear...this so far has been a more of an “implied” situation. Nothing overt at all. All in all, a pretty good read.

I downloaded Katarina: The One Goddess #1 as a free ebook from Amazon. This was a storyline with some interesting surprises. Some of the backstory could have stood more detail and layering, but it was a fun, enjoyable read.

Based on the cover and the title, I honestly expected a pretentious Xena wanna be. This tale is original and full of action. I will definitely read more of this series.

This has all the things you want in a good read…romance, sci-fi, hero, and girl awesomeness. Looking forward to what happens next.

I really enjoyed the story line. I would love to learn more details about the back story on the making of the gods. Thank you for working so hard and following your dream. 😊

I think that, overall, "Katarina" falls into territory that I was just uninterested in. I think I've long been over this kind of book and it often felt like too predictable of a story. I think it could have used a little more planning out. It's not exactly a terribly done book but it just didn't keep my attention or draw me in enough to care all that much about the characters or plot.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Skimmed through large parts of it. Not interested enough to even think about book 2.
