The book is a "who-done-it" mystery with a deeper conspiracy on the side. The book is very step by step. Each chapter, a new clue is discovered and in the next chapter the MCs solve the clue before finding the next one. It's very formulaic of classic mysteries but with a supernatural twist. It was a quick read. Kat is an assassin and panther shifter. In the book's world, shifters are often "collared" which gives a person or organization power over an individual. Kat has been collared for most of her life by the Pack. When one her clients offers to remove her collar in exchange for working for him occasionally, she jumps at the chance. Six months later, Kat takes an unusual job, for her, finding the murderer of a local candy store owner. Kat started her own business M.E.O.W. She lives and works with several other "professionals".

I have Meow in both ebook and audio. I totally loved listening to the story. The story is billed as reverse harem, but it is an extremely slow burn. Meow's primary focus is on introducing the characters and giving the reader a sense of what they can expect from the series. There were hints of romance, but that was it. The mystery, suspense, and action were top-notch and had me engrossed in the storyline. Can't wait to read the second book in the series.

This is an unusual, but truly intriguing story set in an alternate reality where shifters are a known entity. The action starts on page one and is fast paced throughout. Kat is a cat shifter assassin enslaved by an organisation called the Pack. She escapes to form her own group of misfits and recruits Beth, Lily and Benjamin. Along the way she reunites with an old friend Lennox (another escapee from the Pack) and meets a new friend Gryphon (an equally talented assassin). She also befriends the local cat community lead by Ryker. The adventure this group have is entertaining and gripping. The world and character building is done with a gentle hand, but is first class. Whilst this is the first in a new series it can be read as a standalone. That said, I can't wait to read the next in the series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
