A most excellent book— gripping plot, interesting characters, plenty of action, humor, non-cringe-y sex scenes, twists and turns, a few good laugh-out-loud spots— it has everything. I especially love how the story moves along at a good clip and how the main character isn’t perfect, but you are rooting for her anyhow. The clear writing style lets you easily see the movie version of this book in your mind while you’re reading it. Perfect book for a summer beach weekend or for curling up with on a rainy day. Eagerly anticipating Book 2 in the series.

Love in an Undead Age, is a cannibalistic treat for fans of romance and the horror genres. A.M. Geever’s work introduces us to Miranda Tucci, a zombie-killing-ass-kicking-organic-farming-revolutionary-catholic-girl. She is a complicated and fascinating protagonist. Every entry into the cannon of “Zombie Fiction” is created with acrid smoke and broken-mirrors. Geever doesn’t really know what it is like to live in a Post-Apocalyptic Hellscape, but she has skillfully spun a convincing yarn. The corruption, horror, lust, greed, bravery, piety, and love don’t seem an illusion. This is a thoughtful, frightening, sexy and entertaining novel.

Love in an Undead Age delivers what the title promises, and more: an intelligent, badass woman out to save a world where romance isn’t dead but neither are the zombies that hunger for human flesh. But there’s a religious dimension to her quest: she’s working with Jesuits, including the expedition’s leader Father Doug Michel and her wise old mentor Father Walter. It’s difficult for me to be objective about this book because I’m mentioned in the Acknowlegments (sic), but I found myself breathlessly caught up in the action scenes as I read it out loud in our living room. I didn’t know anything about the location or about the tactical details of battle (I was today years old when I learned you can put a pin back into a grenade to keep it from blowing up), but that never got in the way of my enjoyment. And the love scenes are a lot hotter than you’d expect for a book with a bunch of Jesuits running around!

About the author

Science Fiction author A.M. Geever is known for her action-packed, post-apocalyptic and dystopian adventures--with a dash of romance. An avid reader of science fiction and fantasy from an early age, the only job she ever wanted--besides being a writer--was to be a Star Fleet Officer. She credits her love of all things zombie to her older brothers, whose influence in books, music, and film continues to this day, although her tolerance for puns and movies that are "so bad they're good" is a whole lot lower than theirs. The idea of becoming a zombie because her car runs out of gas gets her to the gas station when she would rather not bother.

Trained as a theologian, her work often explores the role of religious belief in post-apocalyptic/dystopian societies. Her award-winning debut novel, Love in an Undead Age, was released in August 2019, followed by Damage in an Undead Age in 2020, and Reckoning in an Undead Age in 2021. She is developing a second series set in the Undead Age universe.
