Granny Snows a Sneak: A Fuchsia, Minnesota Mystery Book 3 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 140 ratings

Granny may be retired as Fuchsia, Minnesota's one-woman undercover sleuth for the Fuchsia Police Department, but that doesn't mean she still doesn't need a trusty weapon. Her weapon of choice? A pink snow shovel. When Granny runs over a dead body with her snowmobile, she unwittingly sets off a chain of events that involves mislabeled corpses, empty graves, and stolen money - lots of it! Who's at the bottom of this years-old crime? Granny has an idea, but she has little time to investigate, when in just days she's scheduled to marry the love of her life, Franklin Gatsby, in a post-Christmas ceremony. So, Granny decides to enlist the help of her friends and neighbors. Add in Christmas holiday excitement and the arrival of Granny's family, who are all there for her wedding, and mayhem ensues. Of course, Granny can always count on her many furry friends to provide her with moral support, but it's quite possible that Granny - that is, Hermiony Vidalia Criony Fiddlestadt - has a secret or two of her own, which may very well be revealed as Granny Snows a Sneak.

This is the first time I have read a book in this series--and I must say it is quite a mad cap adventure in a very strange town with underground streets as well as above! Granny is quite a character--just don't get on her bad side or you are liable to be conked over the head with her pink shovel or attacked by her menagerie of pets! Her grown children keep moving nearer and nearer to her house which causes Granny to get sneakier and sneakier in her attempts to leave her house unnoticed. I mean really now--wouldn't you want to find out who bought you a crypt-and why your friend and neighbors deceased husband is wearing your deceased husbands clothes and was somehow in your backyard where you have run over him with your brand new snow mobile? And that pesky next door neighbor, Silas-why can't he stay out of her business? Meanwhile her fiance and children are all trying to keep her from investigating-----------Lots of other situations arise as well. It will be worth your while to read this book!!

I loved this book as much as the previous books in the series. The author is a very talented writer and keeps the readers on the edge of their seat right up to the end.

This book was filled with unexpected twists and turns. The ending was a cliffhanger that leaves the reader with no other option except to read the next book in this well written mystery series.

Grannies always make great amateur sleuths, and especially this one named Hermiony Fiddlestadt. Feisty, a bit nutty and rather pig-headed, she keeps ignoring her age, planning to marry again, and buying a snowmobile. During her first ride, though, she literally bumps into a dead body in her own backyard – wearing the clothes her late husband had been buried in years ago.
A delightfully crazy murder hunt ensues, with mixed up corpses and graves and the loot from a bank robbery – and we get to know Granny’s whole big family, all her neighbours from the little town called Fuchsia, and her menagerie of animals. Great fun for every fan of cozy murder mysteries!

I just love Granny! She is one sassy old lady. Those sleep garments of hers, so hysterically funny.
If your looking for a fun, funny, cozy mystery, this series is one to read.

Really entertaining. Love the snappy dialog and the plot. Enjoyed the characters and the dialogs. I do not want heavy reading. I read to laugh, and mind travel. this book gave me both!

Granny gets involved in more trouble. She gets in the middle of a mysterious situation again. But granny is no dummy and survives the danger. I can't wait to see what she does in the next book.

Now it has come out. These ARE children's books. Today two others of the series popped up on my kindle under the headline, "Recommended For You in Children's Books". This is something entirely different from a serious Cozy Mystery for adult readers. I'm not even in the least interested in children and what they may or may not read. What a proper explanation why I was so frustrated with the lack of plot, poor writing and endless repetitions. Luckily, I can simply delete those two I purchased from my kindle -- and then forget about an unpleasant read.

This was funny up to a point, then is was just silliness; it wasn't cozy for me. I had trouble following the action, because grannie lost time quickly, hours at a time, and so did the story. First she got up, had a conversation, or took a ride, or went to have coffe, and poof! it was bedtime. There wasn't an explanation for that; at the same time she remembers enough to solve a mystery? It didn't have the depth I crave in a mystery, but I may be missing the point somehow. Sure, not all oldsters fit the stereotypes, especially the boomers ( of which I am one), but this is extreme. Is this to shake younger folks up to adjust their own thinking? I think I expected something else or maybe it's just me. Oh well, that's ok, too. One thing that threw me was the vibrant description of the new snow shovel with the pink handle, the cane feature, etc.. Yet, when the cover was shown, it is a regular brown-handled snow shovel in her hands. What a statement it would have made if the covers' shovel matched the description inside! That might have put me in the frame of mind for silly or funny. At any rate, the best I can give this is three star rating.
