Not badly written, just bad
The characters are almost impossible to relate to. The lead female character is a petulant brat, and I’m supposed to believe she’s the most successful agent in her agency? The lead male character is too one-dimensional to really get attached to. Lots of tick-the-boxes inclusive characters, with no development to make them anything more than set dressing. Even the vampires are only superficially scary, especially since they seem to struggle so hard to kill anyone. All of that said, the story does flow smoothly with good plot pacing. The editing is flawless, with no egregious grammar errors, misspellings, or misused words, so thankfully those distractions are absent.
But that’s not enough to save it. The first book was free, but I won’t be reading any more of this series.
