Hello! I'm a children's author and illustrator--and an aspiring naturalist obsessed with slugs, bugs, and trees, among other things. My goal for all of my books is to inspire children to discover their own enthusiasm for the world around us.

While I've been writing for decades (at least two of them), I didn't really discover picture books until after my kids were born. That's when I ran out of time to read fantasy and started reading hundreds and hundreds of picture books instead. Eventually, my oldest asked me a question about eggs, and I decided to answer it with a picture book.

Then I wrote another book and created a coloring book about bugs.

Now I'm the author of four picture books and one coloring book, and I'm working on several more books to be published soon!

You can find kids activities and book recommendations on my blog, www.kidlitandsteam.com.

I got this book to go along with my preschool’s spider theme. I am not a huge fan of spiders personally so the fact that I love the illustrations so much blows my mind! I love all the different spiders and my students love deciding if the spider on the page was fluffy or not.

This was a great informative book about the different types of spiders there are surrounding us. My children loved the education surrounding the book and will definitely be much more aware of the occasional spiders we see in our desert landscape.

I remember once looking at a VERY TINY spider under a microscope and seeing how furry it looked... like a puppy dog! This is a cute book with nice illustrations. Hopefully it will help lessen some arachnophobia for some people!

The illustrations in this book somehow manage to make spiders look cute and friendly, despite being impressively detailed. Especially the giant house spider—I have to struggle not to scream when I see one and I don’t want my kids to grow up afraid of them, so this is a great way to show them spiders are nothing to be afraid of.
