Great start
I received an ARC for an honest review.
Being that this is part 1 of 6, it's seemingly hard to rate. Definitely higher than a 3*** but maybe not quite a 4*** , only because you really are starting to learn about Prince Leo and Elle you know they have huge secrets. but I'm still at a loss as to what they are...and this will drive how they act in the future, as well as how they interact now. They are extremely attracted to one another, but at this point we aren't sure how that attraction will play out.
I'm very anxious for the next installment. Hopefully it will be out soon to read, and we will get a few more answers.
Pretty good read; waiting for part 2
I got an advanced reading copy for an honest review. I usually am in love with anything Ember Casey writes, but this one didn’t quite meet up to par with the rest of her books. I think it is because it is a collaboration with another writer. One writer wrote Elle’s chapters and the other wrote Leo’s chapters. On the surface, things seem to flow well, but connecting with the characters was a little difficult. While the characters were meant to have an immediate spark between them, it didn’t quite hit the mark. Additionally, both characters have some big, hidden past that they are trying to overcome. The book keeps hinting at it over and over. I realize it was designed to make the characters mysterious, but after some time, it felt like nothing more than a tease.
As far as the actual story goes, it was a bit on the slow side for most of the book. Most of the book is just setting up the plot. It finally picked up pace towards the end of the book. However, since it is the first book of a series, it left you hanging right when it started getting good. I expect the next book to be much better since the groundwork for the plot has already been set up.
Overall, it was a pretty good read. I really am looking forward to reading the rest of series to see what big mysteries lie in Elle’s and Leo’s pasts and how this love story ends.
Definitely a must read
I received an ARC for an honest review. This has the makings of a really good serious, but I feel like someone is holding a treat in front of me teasing me! This gives you enough of a taste to let you see this has the makings of a really good love story. Elle is completely selfless when it comes to the people of the village. Leo has done something selfless for his brother. Can she open his eyes to those less fortunate? Can he help her trust again?? I am waiting on the edge of my seat to find out.
