Protecting You

Zane is arrogant, stubborn, grumpy and not the nicest person to have around. One thing is how serious he took his role as older brother, protector of his younger siblings. His life was the farm and he wanted them close to the point of pouncing on them with guilt any chance he got. When tragedy strikes his anger and guilt is compounded and he lashes out at anyone he can. He even uses the anger and grumpy attitude to help get Ava moving when nothing else does. Yeah I didn't like him much at first until I recognized his transference and realization that it was what Ava needed. He does finally show his softer side but keeps it as something special. Healing may be happening but communication isn't. Love this author and even these characters, although Zane had to grow on me. Love Austin, he's a breath of fresh air and the only one who seems to get through to Zane when needed. It's an emotional tragic story of sacrifice and loss with flashbacks and memories of days gone by. Wonderful read.

Ava was devastated when her best friend, Jimmy, died saving her. Withdrawing from everyone she landed up at his brothers' farm, where both Austin and Zane is trying to work through their grief. Zane, the oldest, wanted nothing to do with her, believing it was her fault Jimmy died. But then he witnessed her nightmares and realized her loss was as great as theirs. And so he became her saviour, holding her through the terrors, becoming the one she leaned on and more. love her writing, its such a heartfelt story. makes you laugh and cry throughout the book.
