About the author
Gloria Repp grew up in the Hawaiian Islands and the Pacific Northwest; it was there she learned a love for wilderness that pervades her writing. She has taught creative writing, worked as an editor, and written books for children, teens, and adults. In addition to wilderness adventures, she enjoys flying in single-engine airplanes and has a particular fondness for owls and frogs.
Each family member has played a unique part in the writing of her books. Her eldest son lives on the Big Island of Hawaii, and she has made trips with him to lava tubes and Mauna Kea’s volcano; she values his insights on the natural sciences and on godly scholarship.
With her Seattle son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, she shares an interest in people and music and journeys of discovery, especially on the Olympic Peninsula. She relies on them for a reality check of plot situations.
Her daughter, who lives in Virginia, is a competent resource in matters of sewing, baking, and midwifery, and her son-in-law enjoys discussing books. Gloria recently moved to Virginia, and she is thrilled to live closer to her family. Looking ahead, she is sure that Virginia's history will have a part in her future novels.

These chapter books are great for early readers because they contain large size text and some colorful illustrations to make reading easier and more entertaining. Great read aloud discussion choice or even chapter by chapter as a bedtime story for younger readers. Recommended for readers in grades two through six.
There are fifteen brief chapters included in this book. It opens with a small graphic that includes the pictures and names of the book’s characters, so children can refer to them when needed. In my opinion, this was a good feature, since there are several characters (nine) to keep track of. However, reading it in eBook format makes it difficult to switch back and forth in order to remember who is who. I wondered if children might get confused when trying to recall a particular character.
There aren’t many illustrations, but those that are included are nicely detailed. I read the book first on my Kindle Paperwhite, and found the illustrations were a nice size, but were in black and white of course. I then read it on my phone – the illustrations were colorful and lovely, but overly small. These things make me think it might be a story better read in print, or at least on a Kindle HD.
The stories are cute, and full of action and adventure. The listing states it’s suitable for seven year olds, but I’d classify it as being for slightly older children. Despite these things, I’d have to say that Trouble with Zee is worth the read.
This is a wonderful chapter book for emerging readers. It's exciting but easy reading, has a message and kids love it. It would also be good as a read aloud.
.
Red or black, they tickle my tongue.
They're crunchy and munchy and lots of fun.
I like ants! Gunkety-gunk!"
New to Pibbin? Meet the main characters featured in this story at the beginning of this chapter book. This story (#6) opens with Pibbin and his best friend, Leeper, eating ants. Riff comes along with a message for Leeper. Marteena, a mouse who live in Fox Woods, says that a cousin of Leeper's is looking for him.
Who is Leeper's cousin? Tatter. Why is Tatter so nervous? Who is Uncle Zee? According to Marteena and Carpenter, Zee is not a very nice character. Leeper wants his friends to come with him even though Tatter tries to dissuade him. What do the critters find at Uncle Zee's new farm? Where is Tatter's brother, Teeny?
Having received the valuable advice of "the best tool you've got is your smarts" how will this help Pibbin as he and the others find themselves in a very unpleasant situation. What will loyalty cost him? (Warning: Parents be ready to answer questions on slave labor as you read this one to your child or they read it to themselves.)
Keena, the lizard, is back. What mischief is she up to this time?
There are 15 short chapters in this well-written book that also contains some fabulous illustrations. Don't miss the photos of real frogs like the ones featured in the story at the end. Book received in exchange for my unbiased review. These stories are clean, uplifting and an easy way to teach our children great values. Highly recommended. Thanks, Liz
