About the Author

I write character-driven novels that focus on social issues pertinent to the LGBT community. My background as a psychotherapist allows me to weave stories around the full range of the human experience: from adversity to humor to a final resolution.

My debut novel, Flowers from Iraq: The Storyteller and The Healer follows Kathleen Moore, a closeted Army physician who is injured while serving in Iraq. Faced with a life altering wound and suffering from PTSD, she is forced to confront her dark childhood memories and come to terms with her sexuality.

Flowers from Iraq was on Amazon's Best Seller Lesbian Fiction list for twenty-six consecutive weeks.

The Girls, released in May, 2013 follows a group of gay women from the 1970s to 2020, a hypothetical future when the United States Senate passes the Freedom to Marry Act.

I am currently writing the sequel to Flowers from Iraq: God Laughs

I hold a Ph.D. in Psychoanalysis and have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for more than 25 years. I live in Southern California where I maintain a private practice, enjoy my family and spend time at the beach flying kites.
