About this ebook

Humorous Portal Fiction Adventure Series - USA Today Bestselling Science Fantasy Author

"This world within a world is such a fabulous concept! It's almost like Star Trek, Doctor Who, and the Bible all mashed up together with a steampunk twist."

If Adal and Arija can't survive, we're all screwed. Let the war begin.

Deep in the belly of a cave lies a portal to a mechanical world that will change two lives forever.

Webley and the creations of the World Machine keep the Earth turning. But when Adal and Arija unknowingly set the gears in motion on a fierce civil war, they could destroy billions of lives.

Including their own.

Adal and Arija have already lost so much, they can't lose each other, too. But when they're forced to fight a creature that couldn't possibly exist, they must adapt or they'll lose the only people they have left.

If you like Cassandra Clare, you'll love this portal fiction adventure full of snarky and witty banter, ingenious machines, and thrilling twists.

Steampunk fantasy invites a huge amount of visualisation. The author does a good job of leading the way descriptively whilst leaving the imaginative reader space to fill in. Meanwhile the action is relentless. The unapologetic endowment of life, feelings and foibles into the created mechanical beings contrasts with other spiritless automatons built essentially as weapons. Webley, the 'Creator', comes across as remarkably mortal, quirky and troubled - his created son has turned against him and built an army of fantastical mechanical creatures who are soulless, destructive and evil. It is against these that the biological YA human protagonists and the small motley alliance around Webley, fight and battle, as action relentlessly permeates the story. The relationship between Adal and Arija, the two joshing teenagers who find themselves plunged into this weird world, begins to develop into something more than just their shared values of bravery and courage.

A fun read! Somewhat of a slow start but the characters kept me reading and I'm so glad I did! The world building is amazing and once they get into the World Machine, the story is non-stop action and snark!
