When Alice’s troubles get even worse, C.T. finds his own life in danger. With a liar for a client and enforcers hounding him, can C.T. prevent his first case from becoming his last?

14 pages in and the very unlikeable and underdeveloped main character has crassly described 3 women in a misogynistic way, one if them being his own mother, whom he called vain for dying her hair. the others he spoke about cleavage and the amount of time she must spend in the gym to have such nice legs. It's like someone told a 12 yr old boy he could be anything and he decided to become a douchy writer to fulfill his need for narcissist fame. Lame.

Tom Fowler is an author with two good series. The C.T. Ferguson series fits into one of my all-time favorite genres, and I like that the PI is a privileged person instead of a Mickey Spillane stereotype. These books are well thought out in plot and character development along with realistic dialogues, realistic fight scenes and a smart mouthed character full of himself with plenty of good humor. Infrequent use of vulgar language. See my complete reviews with GoodReads and BookBub. The C.T. Ferguson Series: The Reluctant Detective #1 – 4* The Unknown Devil #2 - 4* The Workers of Iniquity #3 - 4* Already Guilty #4 – 5* Daughters and Sons #5 - 5* A March From Innocence #6 - 5* Inside Cut #7 - 3* The Next Girl #8 - 5* Dead Cat Bounce #11 - 4* Don't Say Her Name, #12 - 5* Night Comes Down, #13 - 5* Concrete Angels, #14 - 5* Novellas: Hong Kong Dangerous, prequel - 4* 3.5 Red City Blues - 4* The C.T. Ferguson Series end.

When I start reading The Reluctant Detective, I thought it was not worth the effort. I kept reading, feeling sympathy for the Detective, His parents attitude was a bit unnerving. However, they meant well. His I teaching wth his cousin helped him to focus better on the case. In the end they work well together and resolved a rather difficult case. He also get praise and approval of his parents. Overall I enjoyed reading this novel. I'm looking forward to reading the next book. Thankyou Sophie Van Coller
