About this ebook

Practicing Buddhist and retired forensic pathologist Bodhi King seeks peace. But death keeps finding him.

After solving a series of unexplained deaths and exposing a sordid political scandal, Bodhi retreated from the limelight. Permanently, he thought. But now he's called out of early retirement to help investigate a death cluster on a private island in the Florida Keys.

Healthy residents of a ritzy assisted living facility are dying in the middle of the night ... their faces frozen in terror.

Bodhi arrives on Golden Island to find a community gripped by fear. And beneath the surface, conflict simmers, threatening to boil over. The charismatic leader of the Golden Island Church, the dying Cuban-Americans, and the local Catholic priest all have secrets to protect.

It’s up to Bodhi to bring the truth to light … before another resident dies.

Dark Path is the first book in an intriguing, engrossing new forensic thriller series by USA Today bestselling author Melissa F. Miller.

What Readers Are Saying:

“[A] very enjoyable read—a forensic thriller crossed with cozy mystery, with a cast of entertaining characters confined in a remote location. … [I]n Miller’s books there are always interesting themes alongside the thrill of a fast-paced plot, and Dark Path is no exception.”

“I fervently enjoyed the twists and turns as one by one, the clues to the puzzle are discovered.”

“[A]n excellent, tightly woven tale that hooked me quickly and kept me reading until the conclusion.”

“Melissa Miller's writing is strong, with good character development, lots of action and a mystery that keeps you guessing until the end.”

I liked it because I learned a lot of interesting new facts. I read that the author loves to research. So do I. The characters were real and fun. There were lots of hidden secrets being revealed with increasing frequency as the story went along.

Cuban American residents at Golden Shores nursing home are dying. Upon death they had a look of horror on their faces. Dr Ashland, medical examiner of the Keys, cannot find any reason for their deaths. There are just too many dying in a short period of time. Dr Bodhi King is asked to come to the Keys to help. At first he says no, but then he felt if he did not go, he would be helping more to die. This novel will keep your interest to find out what is the cause of the people dying. This is a page turner.

About the author

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Melissa F. Miller was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although life and love led her to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and, ultimately, South Central Pennsylvania, she secretly still considers Pittsburgh home.

In college, she majored in English literature with concentrations in creative writing poetry and medieval literature and was STUNNED, upon graduation, to learn that there's not exactly a job market for such a degree. After working as an editor for several years, Melissa returned to school to earn a law degree. She was that annoying girl who loved class and always raised her hand. She's clerked for a federal judge, worked for major international law firms, and started a two-person law firm with her lawyer husband.

Now, powered by coffee, she writes crime fiction and homeschools her children. When she's not writing, and sometimes when she is, Melissa travels around the country in an RV with her husband, three kids, and their cat.
