Alpha Class: The Etheric Academy, Book 1 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,102 ratings

Building a new empire is supposed to be dangerous, but training the next generation of leaders?

That's not supposed to be dangerous, right?

Follow us as we have the people in the Etheric Empire setting up a special academy to train the first set of teens on a leadership track. They are supposed to learn about the different groups in the Etheric Empire. Unfortunately, some of the members of those teaching teams tapped to train the kids don't realize how...adventurous...the teens can be.

Especially if the teachers are Team BMW.

Travel with us as we are introduced to Alpha Class, one of the teams in the new Etheric Academy as they merge humans and Wechselbalg (Weres) in a group of five young adults as they learn to become the first cohesive group on their first assignment.

With Team BMW as their teachers, nothing could go wrong, right?

A Kurtherian Gambit adventure for younger listeners...or those who are young at heart.

I was searching for some reading material for my 11 y/o grandson when I stumbled upon TS Paul. His "Forgotten Engineer" series and then the "Federal Witch" series were made to order. Now with this collaboration my grandson and I have another series to share and discuss. The story is great and the pace fast enough to keep the attention of a young reader. The humor and innuendo abounds allowing for a more mature audience to enjoy and explain to your younger readers to expand their comprehension if you choose to do so. I look forward to many an enjoyable hour discussing this series with my grandson.

Fun youth adventure. Well-paced adventure but ralid change if people and situations. Well-behaved kids in this book. Seemed like a whole book had to preceed this one, but I'm not aware of one.
Books definitely need to be read in sequence. Ready for the next adventure.

How much trouble can five kids and three adults get into? Well, the three adults are the BMW team , so basically, eight kids can get into lots of trouble. It’s shaping up to be one heck of a school year.

68 and counting! Trying to read all of the authors of TKG and TS your a really good fit. After starting late with this series I'll have to go back k to read all the authors other works. Love the character interchange and you can see the diverse group becoming a team.

Their adventures get you geared up for the next books and that is where I'm headed now. Thank you TS for the excellent adventure!!!

The first book of "The Etheric Academy" and while it's a good story, it isn't as exciting or action-packed as all others I've read until now. I'll be giving them another chance, of course, because it's not fair to expect the same type of thrills when the base subject is so different. On to the next after a couple others!

Alpha Class is the first book in this new series that is a spin off from the Kurtherian Gambit series. For those who haven't read that series, the beginning of the book can be a bit confusing. But it is an interesting concept and I like the kids who make up the Alpha group of students at the Etheric Academy.

It was really fascinating seeing the kids as fleshed out characters whom we met in Bethany Ann's series. They seem much older and extremely intelligent. I wish I'd had friends like these when I was in school! They push each other to learn more and each have passions that can help their team in different ways. Team BMW absolutely made the wrong call with that secret and so the last line or so of the book made me chortle. Wish I could read what happened!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good YA story

I'm not the target audience for this book (I'm way too old) but it felt ok and the use of characters from the main series felt right. In a way, it felt a little like the old E E Doc Smith stories; safe for younger readers and with a hint of science lurking within the adventures in space.

This is the start of a wonderful series. It is fun for all ages. I literally giggled all the way through it,the tone is light and fun. The mystery intensifies and unfolds into a good adventure. Yes I will be reading the others!

If taken by itself I would give the book 3 stars, in context of the Kurtherian Gambit series however, I can only give as much as I have. The reason for it is the incredibly stupid decision of the BMW team to go after the kids without requesting backup and then trying to keep what happened from Bethany Anne. This is totally out of character, especially for William and Marcus.

The description of the robots and the aliens was lacking, and the fight sciences just weren't entertaining. The premise of yet another alien race in the solar system is getting a little old. It is also out of character to not have investigated the EM anomaly, given that aliens are a known fact. And no one designs a self destruct mechanism, that can be activated unintentionally.

On a side note, is there a reason for replacing obvious pop culture references with slightly different ones like Star Journey instead of Star Trek?

To be fair, the first half of the book is solid, all the criticism is aimed at the second half. And it is classed as a YA novel, so it may not be entirely fair to measure this book on the same scale as the rest of the books in this universe.
