About this ebook

Love is patient. Love is kind. Love is for chumps.

Geo never plans weddings. Corporate retreats, fundraisers, birthday parties, and even the occasional engagement party? Sure. But weddings? Not anymore.

She never dates, either. Not under any circumstance. These two rules keep her safe. They maintain order, and Geo needs a predictable life.

So when her best friend Paisley tries to convince her to plan just one wedding, Geo turns her down flat. Until a clinical trial opens up—one that might save (a little bit of) her mother’s future. But it costs money, and the only event planning that pays that kind of money is a wedding.

How bad can it be to make an exception just this once

I read the first book in this series, Finding Faith at Christmas time and loved it, so I was looking forward to reading this one. Overall I liked this and had a hard time putting it down, although I did not like it as much as Finding Santa. Obviously this is a romance, and I don't usually read romances unless they are historical, but Bridget Baker is an author I'll make a exception for because I enjoy her novels so much. There were several things about this book that I loved. I loved how cute Geo and Trig were together, I loved how the author inserted herself into the book at one point (Geo is reading a book and talks about the author, who happens to resemble this one an awful lot). I loved that the book incorporated several different locations. And I loved that we got to revisit characters from Finding Santa. As for the characters, I liked the main character Geo a lot, but Trig had to grow on me. Luckily it didn't take too long for that to happen, but I didn't like the way he manipulated her into going skiing, even if she did end up enjoying it. Also his lack of awareness of how his whims could inconvenience other people put me off a little as well. At first he just seemed like one of those rich guys who thinks he can have whatever he wants when he wants it, but in the end his heart was in the right place and I ended up liking him quite a lot. The same tropes used in most romance novels were used in this one, but I thought they were done well, and the reservations the couple had about falling in love made sense considering their backgrounds. And the supporting characters are all great, especially Paisley, who I'm expecting will get her own book eventually. I'm enjoying this series, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book. If you like clean contemporary romance then you should give this series a try.

The second book in this series can be read on its own, but you will love the first one, too. The characters from that book are getting married and need a wedding planner. They find one through a friend of a friend situation. Her heart is locked up like a steel trap no matter how charming and handsome (and rich!) the best man happens to be. This is a sweet tale of how happiness can hit you like a brick wall if you just give it a little opening.

What happens when a determined-to-stay-unmarried billionaire meets a sworn-off-of-love businesswoman? Trig and Geode move in different social circles, they both come with emotional baggage that has turned them against marriage, and their personalities couldn’t be more different. Or so it seems when they first meet. But they can’t help noticing each other. And thanks to a skiing accident and a friend’s wedding to plan, they have a lot of time to get to know each other. Can Trig let down his guard and believe that his marriage doesn’t have to be like his parents’? And can he convince Geo to open herself to the potential for pain that comes along with love? Geo is a feisty, determined woman. She’s more than a little guarded, but it’s understandable, considering the pain she’s been through. Trig has never been serious about anyone or let anyone in except for his sister. Part of the fun of this story is that the characters grow on you, rather than being perfect from the start. They grow and learn and develop in so many ways. And the supporting characters are so rich as well. I’m hoping Brekka will get her own book! I really like the depth as well. Yes, there is plenty of chemistry. But Trig and Geo realize that love is not just infatuation. Trig tells Geo he loves her not for her beauty but for her beautiful spirit, the sacrifices she makes for others. And she falls for him as she realizes his kindness (seen in the way he treats his sister) and determination to do the honorable thing. Finally, Bridget Baker’s writing is just beautiful. The pace is energetic and the characters are vividly drawn, and it’s so easy to picture not just the action but also the surroundings, even though her descriptions aren't extensive. I’m a warm-weather lover who never had an interest in skiing, but after reading the descriptions of beautiful scenery and the gorgeous, cozy cabin, I’m tempted to book a flight to Colorado. Or maybe I’ll just stay home and lose myself in the next book in the series.

About the author

Bridget won her first writing contest in first grade with a story about a day in the life of a little spot of air. (Who says you need a good hook?)

She hasn't stopped writing (or talking) since then, although she was briefly derailed by her pursuit of a legal career. Ultimately, boring words, well, bored her. She quit her job to spend less time counting gobs of ill gotten gains, and more time writing stories.

She loves her husband and all five of her kids (most days). She has a yappy dog and a bouncy dog, three goofy horses, a demanding cat, two lion's head rabbits, and more chickens than she cares to admit. (Chicken math is REAL!) Every day is a battle between playing with kids, riding her horse Leo, and writing. If her publication speed has slowed down, you can blame the kids and the horse.

She makes cookies all the time, and thinks they should have their own food group. In a possibly misguided attempt at balancing the scales between overconsumption and exertion, she kickboxes every day. So if you don't like her kids, her cookies, or her books, maybe don't tell her in person.
