Read a five-star review from an Amazon Reviewer:
“Great Motivational Read!
What can I say about "Retirement Is Fun?"
It's a book that gives the good and the bad of living in this 21st century.
There are incredible miracles and incredible heartbreaks, yet through it all with the support of family and faith in God, we prevail.
The author wrote the story as it occurred, with no frills or embellishments.
She takes the reader along with her to the many places she visited.
Her obvious enjoyment of them is a testament to her wonderful spirit.
The book is written in two parts.
I was happy the author gives us the good news in the first half, that way, the reader is able to see her strength and appreciate from whence she came.
I was impressed with the places she had visited.
I'd thought I was a world traveler, but I take my hat off to her and her wonderful family.
This is a great motivational and inspirational story for anyone who needs uplifting.”

Review

Review by Readers Favorite:Retirement is Fun: A New Chapter by Brenda Mohammed is an interesting memoir where the author shares with readers her moments after retirement and how it is a time when everyone should sit back and enjoy life. After reading this book, no one will dread retirement. They will all look forward to it and use that time to enjoy the beauty of life, spend more time with the family, and experience their unconditional love. Retiring from the job does not mean one retires from life because one gets time to appreciate the beauty of unlimited time and use it effectively by doing things they missed out on doing while they were working. The book is uplifting as it makes everyone who is going to retire look forward to it. The author's experiences and adventures after retirement give readers ideas on how to handle their lives in a good and happy way after retiring from their jobs. Brenda Mohammed shows by example how one's attitude can make a difference to everything and life can be enjoyed at any age, irrespective of whether you are young or not. The memoir is simple and chronicles the author's life and events, taking readers into her space. The memoir is a good read; readers can connect well with what the author says and the events and experiences in her life, and the way she handles life is tangible. The words of wisdom from Dr Murdoch quoted at the end of the book are very inspirational and will help readers look at life in a positive way. An interesting book for all those who are going to retire from their jobs and want to know how to handle life after that.

Take a flight into the fascinating and fast-paced life of author Brenda Mohammed as she reflects on her years of early retirement. “Retirement is Fun” reads like a journal detailing the many aspects of Mohammed’s post-retirement days spent traveling the world. We follow her and her family as they globe-trot from their native Trinidad to the world’s largest cities, including Rome, London, and New York, to more exotic locations, such as Spain, Anguillar, and Columbia, and to popular tourist destinations like Hollywood and Las Vegas, as the author gives her impressions of each stop along the way.

“Retirement is Fun” reads much like a travel itinerary, but in diary form. Sometimes repetitious in the minute details of the author’s daily agenda, it still manages to peak one’s interest with all the trials and tribulations, joys and agonies, laughter and sadness she experiences during the course of her busy life. In fact, with such a hectic travel schedule and so many landmark occasions peppering this memoir, it’s amazing that Mohammed has managed to pack so much into her life—not to mention between the pages.

Highly-descriptive and quite intimate, “Retirement is Fun” provides a satisfying glimpse into the life of this well-traveled woman.

The novel Retirement is Fun by Brenda Mohammed may be deceptively read as an account of a continuous intercontinental road trip. However Retirement is Fun can more accurately read as the saga of the quiet determination of an unassuming heroine to maintain and promote social cohesion and interdependence of the family as she knows it. Brenda gives life to the family which in turn gives life to her. It’s the web of family closeness facilitated by Brenda from she draws strength in her darkest hour as she is afflicted with cancer and successfully grapples with retirement. The family dynamics begs interpretation and one finds it in the context of the social and cultural back ground of the collectivist substrata. It is in Brenda’s indefatigable efforts to champion the cause of family even as she journeys through a series sicknesses, births and deaths sequences and remains unfazed that a true hero is born.

Enlightening and inspiring, author Brenda Mohammed takes us through a bird's eye view turned fly on the wall look at her life. Banking? Insurance? Exotic holidays? For some of us, such a life is beyond our reach. For those of us to strive just be a little bit better at what we do, each and every day, we are the kind of reader suited to this book.

Anyone can read it, but you will be pleasantly surprised just how the author takes on new challenges with gusto. True, she has a large family and strong network of friends egging her on, but this is clearly her own tale, and how retirement is anything but a door closing.

It is a new opening, a new chapter, and it is fun to read as well as have some very poignant moments in it. A great companion to her other memoirs, but stands well on its own. Far from being something to fear, the author teaches the reader to really go for it in life.

    Nicely done.

The book is written in the style of a diary, and one I got used to this, it worked fine. Brenda's incredible story as a cancer survived is revealed, amongst the life changing adventures of her retirement. I had to finish the book in one sitting as I was intrigued to discover the outcome. The story is also a travelogue, and as I had visited some of the places Brenda mentions, wonderful memories of my own travels have been evoked. I love the fact that stores and restaurants visited were mentioned, as on occasions I could chime,"I've been there". The practical description of the wonderful countries and cities Brenda has seen, has left me with a bigger bucket list. The most wonderful thing about this book is the faith, hope and love of Brenda and her family. It is a book of hope and that will bless the reader.
