    Pieces is the 5th thriller by award-winning author John Netti. I have read them all. Our heroine, ex-detective Maddy Reynolds, believes she is retired. However, she finds herself in the crosshairs of an FBI search. Who is doing all the killing, and, why is Maddy a target?

    This book kept me on the edge of my seat as I read page after page. A true thriller. Thanks John

    Another great thriller by John Netti. Maddy a former detective is forced back out of retirement to chase a serial killer leaving trophies all over town. A thrilling story that is has lots of mystery and suspense with Maddy being a great character. Very captivating read!

    Dare to take this intense dive into the world of an unyielding and valiant detective. In this thriller “Pieces” by John Netti, his beloved protagonist Maddy Reynolds unexpectedly encounters, and is threatened by, an artfully deceptive but utterly diabolical killer. Set in its backdrop of stunning Berry Lake, the killing frenzy the community experiences is simply paradoxical in the light of their once quiet, rural surroundings. After this read, idyllic places like the Adirondacks may look and feel a little less so.

    I was so compelled by this book. Right from the start, the action starts and it does not let up. This is part of a series and there are references to previous books, so I'd recommend reading a few of them to fully enjoy the backstory of this character.

    Maddy is no longer a detective. She retired after capturing an unaliver who was responsible for her losing her father. Maddy is ready for some peace. But that is not meant to be. First, her husband is recovering from major surgery. Second, another unaliver has fixated on her… and is daring her to catch him.

    The FBI is investigating, but Maddy tries to keep her distance from them. The one thing that was a mark against this book is this unwillingness to tell the FBI the entire story so that they could try to catch Whitfield, the unaliver. I didn't quite understand her thinking for this.

    The story is fast paced while Whitfield tries to engage Maddy in her own town. But she is preparing to take him on. The question is, will she have enough time before he tires of the game?

    Another win for a Maddy Reynolds book. She moved to get away from the violence, but it followed her. After solving quite a few mysteries and murders, she now is faced with a killer that is stalking her. For what? Because he can and just to show that he could outwit and out gun her. Which will win this fight to the end? As typical, Maddy wants no help, no protection, no sympathy. He is playing with her mind. I was rooting for her until the end. Love this writer and series. Thanks to Book Siren for the ARC of this book.

    Be forewarned. Amid this intense, nail-biting, heart-pounding, serial-killer thriller, John Netti will make you tear up and, in some incidences, even make you full-on cry. His characters are so realistic that I quickly bonded with them. The story is emotional and fully engaging. Mr. Netti explores the darker side of the human spirit and that indefinable something that makes humans special. This is the first novel by Mr. Netti that I have read, but I will be actively looking for others to add to my library. I highly recommend his writing.

    At first i was very confused by the story line. There was sooo many references to the past like I should know that information. It wasn’t until i looked up the author that I realized this is the 4th or 5th book about detective Maddy Reynolds. I wish the books were numbered like most series.

    Without the past information and just going off on what I read. This was an engaging book. I had no idea who the killer was until it was bluntly stated. Maggie the main character like most female main characters wanted to save the day all by herself. Which you know always causes problems. The supporting characters were a valuable part of the story.

    I recommend reading their series in order.

    I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
