What a great story!
I normally don’t read this type of book, but I’m interested in World War II history, so I thought I’d give it a try. What a great story!
It’s about a young woman, Ally, who travels from the midwest to Hanford, WA, where the plutonium for the first atomic bomb was developed. She gets a job as a secretary working on the top-secret project.
The story involves a burgeoning romance between Ally and a local newspaper reporter. I found myself rooting for Ally with each twist and turn of the plot.
The book was well researched and the depictions of life for the Hanford workers was spot on. In a word: Wow!
