From Alana Highbury, Amazon bestselling author, comes a slow-burn Valentine's romance in a snowy small town.

It was hate at first sight.

After a run-in with the rude Best Man, Peter, at her best friend’s wedding and a subsequent meltdown on New Year’s Eve, Hazel is ready to make major changes. Realizing she’s a serial dater, she vows to take a break from dating and focus on reinventing herself in her career. Tired of the constant travel from speaking tours, she’s determined to focus on writing—and staying home for once in her life.

But when the jerk from the wedding moves in next door, Hazel can’t believe her bad luck. She does her best to avoid Peter, until a massive blizzard forces her to take shelter at his house. The icy tension between them starts to thaw as they get to know each other, but when they’re still snowed in four days later—on Valentine’s Day—tempers flare as passions rise.

Confused and unsettled, Hazel has no idea what to do with her conflicting feelings, and avoiding him doesn’t seem to be an option.

Can she find love with this enigmatic man amid the winter storm brewing within and between them?

This is a sweet romance without explicit scenes, but it does contain light swearing and adult themes.

From the Author

This novel is a standalone, but it's interconnected with two other holiday romances: Meet Me on Christmas Eve and Dance with Me on New Year's Eve. Reading them in order is ideal but not necessary.

This book begins with a wedding. Hazel is at her best friend's wedding and realizes how lonely she is. She is a hopeless romantic and a hot mess when it comes to communicating with the opposite gender.

The new neighbor and best man, Peter, is an uptight hottie. Their interactions are awkward, uncomfortable, and strange overall. Most of this story is Hazel rambling, but it does have a nice winter vibe.

She finally comes to her senses and takes the offering of forced proximity and snowed in with her neighbor.  After a lot of interactions, they finally move from friends to lovers.

The overall story was a cute read with grumpy/sunshine characters, forced proximity, and holiday romance. I appreciated the incorporation of valentines day and the winter vibes. I did enjoy that the male character had chronic illness represented and well-established in the storyline. Also, this story is a clean romance, just kissing.

Honestly , this read made my heart warm in such an innocent way. Pete oops I meant Peter as he prefers is rather cold in the beginning but, you start to warm to his character further into this book and Hazel this hopeless romantic Valentine’s Day enthusiast woman gets her wish. I thought this was a fast and cute read and recommend this to readers who want a not so “spicy” read. So cozy when they were both just trapped by that terrible snow storm and she managed to allow herself to ask for help. Wait maybe he was rude during those chapters lol but, still a cozy hallmark read

This is a nice, easy read with a good storyline. I will say, if you're an observant person & this annoys you, there are quite a few typos. Overall, though, I really enjoyed both of these books & I know I'll end up reading the third because they're just that cute.

    I really enjoyed this story.

This story is cute and relatable. Hazel, the main female character is quirky and has a lot of cases of foot in mouth. I do appreciate her openness with her best friend and with Peter. I live in a cold, storm prone state so I could relate to the feeling of spending days with no power, just trying to make it.

The writing overall could use a little more oomph. There were some inconsistencies which left me scratching my head * did she forget her night cap? How is she taking it off?* There is also a section mid book which gives me more thriller/ mystery vibes which is obviously not the theme here.

I do wish there was more with Hazel and Peter in their relationship, but I enjoyed the small piece that we got. Overall, it was a nice quick read.

Happy Hazel, maid of honor, at her best friend's wedding, meets grumpy best man. She talks ALOT. She drank too much and he just watched her annoyed. It's Christmas, her best friend is married, and Hazel is trying to find a new mode for her life. A lawyer, a motivational speaker, an author, a serial dater, a stress baker, and a hopeless romantic who is going to swear off men for her New Year resolution. Then her new neighbor arrives, she takes him a basket of goodies, only when he opens the door, it's HIM. The grumpy best man. What happens when the blizzard of the century comes through is To be continued!!
This is a cute, some what angst filled novel. I say that lightly, and it's a great cozy read for Valentine's Day.

Peter and Hazel always say the wrong thing to each other,it makes for a very entertaining and emotional story. He’s the king of grumps shutting the world out and she’s one of the most stubborn characters.Snowed in is one of my favourite tropes so I was very excited about this book, Hazel and Peter are so awkwardly cute first getting to know each other. I loved seeing Peter come out of his grumpy shell while witnessing Hazel’s many stubborn outbursts. This story was hilarious I loved every emotionally charged moment.

I had a hard time finishing this book because the storytelling is unclear, the missing words add to the confusion, and the start of book story descriptions are way too vague.
