When I started this book I was sort of ho-hum, but I would finish anyway. The more I read, the more I bought into the story and characters. I really enjoyed it, and the author's depiction of the stallions behavior took me back to my childhood when we had a similar nasty tempered stallion. I was glad to see him go. I felt the same about this one--just turn him loose and forget him! Hopefully his offspring won't be as nasty as he!

This was a very fun story to read about young love and hardships. And a runaway horse and a young woman running from a forced marriage by the elders.

This well-written book was easy to read & enjoyable, and about a time in our history when we can look back and marvel at our fellow citizens’ bravery and hard work. I especially enjoyed the horses, with their varied personalities, and the descriptive picture the author so vividly paints of the wilderness. Some of my favorite quotes are: “God always does what’s best, even if we don’t understand it.” And: “He’s also powerful enough to help the person who is doing right, triumph without any machinations.” This author is great at making history come alive! I won this book from a blog, and wanted to leave my own personal review.

Thisbook drew me in from the beginning. I really enjoyed the main story, Iris and her conflict of where she will live and who she will marry. I also liked the history of the Mormons and what it could of been like to be married to a Mormon man. It was interesting and very well written. I wish the ending wouldof had more closure (maybe that comes in the next book). Overall a great book and I read it over the course of 2 days. I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this book and how the characters came to life. The story was well written and very captivating. My only issue is with how the Mormons were portrayed, it was not accurate at all. In the book it showed them as not Christians and that they don’t read the Bible, this is very untrue. Also, polygamy did not work that way, people weren’t forced into it and husbands were not chosen for them by “the elders”. I know the author’s husband is a descendent of Mormon ancestors, but she needed to do more homework on how things worked. I have enjoyed other books of hers, but the false portrayal was very hard to get past.
