Review of Call of the Wind

“Call of the Wind beautifully oscillates between adventure, romance, and mystique. I was enthralled by the exciting plot that blends in spiritual thoughts. Skarie is a master in weaving her wisdom into stories that remain in your heart even after you have turned the last page."

I absolutely adored this book and found that once I started reading it, I had trouble stopping. It takes place in a different galaxy and is packed with mysteries. I was constantly on the lookout for both the romance and the war aspects of the book because of how well the author's universe and the main characters' emotions were described. If you like science fiction with a mix of romance and fantasy and want to visit a another reality, this novel was enjoyable.

I was shocked by the depth of feelings expressed in Heidi Skaries stunning 4th Star Riders scifi saga ebook (& a TERRIFFIC stand alone, too, to her new readers😇) about this book's protagonist - a 15 year old named Baymond who is utterly enamored by his true first love versus some surreal political (& interplanetary, too⚡) realities with almost unbelievable & certain deathly consequences that could be far, far greater than his heart wrenching first love affair that has TOTALLY gone wrong.

Evil has no limits in its search of depravity to exploit as Soul wanders down here life after life in order to ultimately remember its true beingness as Soul.

Master story teller Heidi Skarie truly takes one far beyond this physical filament/reality to much higher spiritual realities where 💙 serenely rules ultimately as it should - while giving her numerous compelling characters many lessons in useful techniques of daily spiritual survival.

I am looking forward to the 5th installment of this enthralling sci-fi saga.

(spoilers avoided) What a fun ride! I jumped into the series with this book, and though I haven't read the earlier novels, that turned out not to be a handicap. I'm a fan of science fantasy, so the entire premise help me from the start. My one suggestion would be for the author to reconsider how to integrate essential worldbuilding details. The characters have a tendency to speak in slightly stilted exposition, which distracts from the narrative flow and can be taken as a bit amateurish.

All in all, though, highly recommended!

Call of the Wind, the fourth book in Heidi Skarie’s Star Rider series, is a dizzying and evocative space opera set in the future in a galaxy far from Earth.

Full of adventure and romance, it features two teenage soulmates who are fated to be together, but whose future is threatened by a pre-ordained marriage. Riddled with nasty villains against the backdrop of gorgeous and imaginative scenery, the story moves forward from space jump to space jump with taut suspense.

There are plenty of good science fiction tales out there, but Call of the Wind is different in that it intertwines an enchanting spiritual theme as well, detailing two parallel worlds of the physical and metaphysical. Significant ideas are subtly shared in the telling, making this a book that stays with you for much more than the entertainment of the story.

I read this book as a standalone, and didn’t need to read the first books to thoroughly enjoy it. Pick up your copy today!

It's an interesting and entertaining read with a strong teen romance theme. The author's fusion of Science Fiction and Metaphysics was a delightful combo for me. A well-written work with a nice pace and well-developed plot and characters. I found the details of events and places realistic, and they play out in my imagination like a movie. I thoroughly loved this book and found myself unable to put it down once I began. This was an enjoyable book if you appreciate science fiction with a splash of romance and fantasy and want to travel to a new reality.

When I think of Heidi Skarie's books, I think of exciting reads steeped in romance and propelled by adventure. Ms Skarie's Star Rider series offers more than that though. Her heroes derive strength from a dynamic spirituality that allows them to travel to different realms for renewal and guidance. Call of the Wind, the newest book in the series, further illuminates that spirituality. The protagonist, Baymond, has all the passions of a young person, but also has an unusual and evolving faith. It provides him with power to carry him through both love and war, and gives the book depth unusual for a space opera.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Call of the Wind really surprised me. It’s an exciting mix of space adventure and spiritual depth, with a teen romance that keeps things grounded. The world-building is impressive, and I loved how the story weaves together both action and metaphysical themes. Even without reading the previous books, I found myself hooked. Perfect for anyone who enjoys science fiction with a few thoughtful twists.
