Ashes of Andromeda (The Last Archide Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 21 ratings

The death of the Warlord is celebrated in Vollmar and mourned in Navarus. The world stands still to notice the passing of a legend. But, there are whispers that Oryan still lives.

Celeste and Asher are victims of the puppet master who believed he could break Oryan. Forced into slavery, she fights to save her son from those who would silence them forever.

Warriors from another time known as Archides are backed into a corner. Damrich, the man who brought down their galaxy-spanning empire, is taking advantage of the turmoil and threatens to conquer this world as he did their ancient home of Andromeda.

Desperate for victory, the Archides scour the world to confirm that Oryan is alive and recruit him to their cause as his father before him.

Billions of lives are at stake. Both those who want to restore balance and those who want to see the planet burn know that success or failure will be determined by the survival of only three.

I’m Chad Odom, and I write science-fiction and fantasy with more genres to come.

My latest series, Legends of Vandilor, which takes place within my expanded universe, was completed in February of 2022. It steps away from the science-fiction element that defined my previous work and hearkens back to my first literary love-fantasy.

The Last Archide, was released in 2019. This Amazon best-seller lays the foundation for the civilization of Andromeda-a galaxy spanning empire whose impact is felt across the stars tens of thousands of years after it was destroyed. It is a story that has been brewing in my mind since I was eight years old and one that continues to shape my work to this day.

My books have appeal across a large and diverse audience. They can be enjoyed by a young adult audience on up and they have been praised by both fantasy and science-fiction readers. Aside from the books and movies I enjoy, they are heavily influenced by both world and religious history, making a careful student of either notice hidden themes others might overlook.

I'm currently working on another series which will take us back to the glory days of Andromeda. Set against the back drop of a planet on the reconstruction side of a civil war, this new series will begin to show the dominoes that fell resulting in the cataclysmic end described in The Last Archide.

Still hatching in my brain is a stand-alone fantasy based on the "tall tales" from my own family, and a dark science-fiction novel detailing the rise of the villain who brought down the Archide universe.

Ashes of Andromeda really advances the story! So many questions and plot lines set up from the first two books get expanded upon. Both the story and the main characters have a depth added to them that really makes them come alive. So fun! Can't wait for book 4!

Let me get this out of the way first. Proofread. I have noticed as this series progresses the grammar has suffered. Whoever's doing the proofreading/editing isn't doing their job. On the hole I like the fundamentals of the story, but for all the characters he can introduces. I feel he really neglects developing his main characters, particularly Celeste. And there are so many missed opportunities for world building, but that could easily just be chalked up to my personal preference. The lack of detail in the world they're at gets frustrating without better context. But they're humans, but as far as we know they're not on earth or even originated in the Milky Way. But it's not explained thus far. It leaves you with a sense of a bit of confusion as in the where they're at in the universe. You author could have spent a little bit more time developing his world to give better context for his characters and their place in it.

Book 3 takes us in a surprising direction than you'd expect from the first two volumes, a welcome fast-paced rollercoaster of sci-fi fantasy you need to live in for a weekend.

The death of the Warlord. Celeste and her son have been enslaved. It was all the plan of one man who feared Oryan. However, they have powerful allies, warriors from another time and another place. Archides. They need Oryan, his father's son, Celeste's Oryan. They need him to face the ultimate evil, Damrich, the man who destroyed their world and now threatens this one. This world is at stake. Its survival depends on Oryan and his family.

Oryan and Celeste! So many answers! And now it all hangs in the balance. What a change of pace and so welcome. This series continues to impress me with its story development and its character growth. Each book satisfies its story arc and leaves me anticipating the next book. And for those who enjoy audiobooks, this one is excellent. The narrator captures the urgency, the characters, and their moods wonderfully.

This book takes an unexpected twist. Oryan has a tough choice ahead of him. What will he chose The Archides or Celeste? Can't wait for book four.

After reading the previous books, I started to get an idea of where I thought the story was going to go. The author still had a few tricks up their sleeve though and managed to surprise me with what actually happened! The series has continued to get better over time.

I saw book 4 is ready for pre-sale and it's a good thing. These characters are becoming more and more real to me even though the backdrop has taken some incredible turns. Great time to pick up this series.

My favorite part about these books is the character building. I can’t wait to find out what happens!
