Erica Ridley is a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author of witty, feel-good historical romance novels, including the upcoming THE DUKE HEIST, featuring the Wild Wynchesters. Why seduce a duke the normal way, when you can accidentally kidnap one in an elaborately planned heist?
In the 12 Dukes of Christmas series, enjoy witty, heartwarming Regency romps nestled in a picturesque snow-covered village. After all, nothing heats up a winter night quite like finding oneself in the arms of a duke!
Two popular series, the Dukes of War and Rogues to Riches, feature roguish peers and dashing war heroes who find love amongst the splendor and madness of Regency England.
When not reading or writing romances, Erica can be found riding camels in Africa, zip-lining through rainforests in Costa Rica, or getting hopelessly lost in the middle of Budapest.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2020A charming, engaging story. I regretted that it was too short but it was a pleasure to read. I really liked the strong heroine and finally liked the hero once his character and reasoning were revealed.
I've read several of Erica Ridley's books and I love them all.
I read a ton of romance books but this is the first romance that I have read in a while where I didn't have to suffer through endless pages of repetition of silly reasons why they can't become a couple and was not riddled with misspelled words or poor editing.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2024Good read and a short story to boot. I liked these characters and the plot. Looking forward to the next in this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2019This is such a beautiful second chance romance between orphaned, Rebecca, and her handsome noble, and love of her life, Daniel. I love a strong heroine and Rebecca is just that, having survived her parents death, rejection from the man she loved for not being good enough, and existing in a creepy castle with her great uncle who took her in and forgot who she was. When Daniel returns after many years away, for the reading of the old man’s will, he does so to apologize to Rebecca for the way he treated her. The dialogue is wonderful; their romance a delight. Loved this story, start to finish!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2019I enjoyed this simple story. It had well drawn characters and a lot of stream of conscious thinking in order to move the story forward. This author is usually one of my favorites bit In this instance, I was disappointed. It was not a book but a magazine length story article.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2019Can a rake beg forgiveness for the pain he caused to his childhood friend and help her secure a groom.
I really loved this one book, I find all that is Mrs Erica Ridley touch here.
Despite the shortness of this story, the author brought her main characters to life, their flaws, talents and past shaped them in very fleshy paper heroes.
In their year apart, Rebecca improved herself, by drowning out her loneliness with plenty of tasks, she taught herself and moved in whole new woman.
She is clever, resourceful and very witty.
Her dialogues with Daniel clashed like a tennis game with her carrying the play.
Daniel has years of regrets behind him, when Rebecca had to forge a new path for herself, he merely had just to follow the road already all mapped out for him.
So when an opportunity arisen, he decided it was time he makes amends.
But Rebecca is no more the young girl he left behind, she is a woman now, able to speak for herself and whom won’t bent because he is male and nobility.
A 5 stars for this short pages turn great tale.
I was granted an advance copy by the author, I also previously preordered my own copy.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2020The love story of Rebecca and Daniel. Rebecca has become the forgotten guess in her Nick's home. When her uncle die, her cousin, the new earl, say he would give her £500 for a Diary but she must find a husband by January and use as little of the diary as she can. Daniel was in love with Rebecca but on her first season his grandmother insulted her and he did nothing to stop it. Now he want her to forgive him. Will she? Great story.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2020Daniel Goodenham, Viscount Stonebury, made the mistake of trying to please his grandmother and hurt his best friend, Rebecca. Years later he has an opportunity to apologize and ask for forgiveness. Even if Rebecca loves him, she doesn't want to forgive him. She does need his help to find a husband very soon or her uncle will make her marry someone he chooses. Daniel is in turmoil as he realizes he loves her, too. They aren't suppose to be together, but sometimes love won't accept anything else. Short read for a second chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars the joy of making one’s own choices
After her great-uncle’s death, the new earl decided that Rebecca had to marry within three months or he would be looking for a husband for her himself. So Rebecca decided to ask a former friend to help her to “snare” a husband since independence was not a possibility…
It was touching to read how Daniel did all he could to help Rebecca make her own choices. However, it makes one especially happy to live today and not back then, especially when men made it clear that women were not worth much without them ☺.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Story!
Such a lovely second chance romance, written in the gothic style. Daniel broke Rebecca’s heart nine years ago, can he put it together again and be the person he knows he should have been back then? These characters are engaging, lovable and well-developed and make you empathise with their passion and fears. This captivating story grabbed my interest from the very beginning and kept me turning the pages to find out what would happen next. Wonderful read!

This story did not at all go the way that I thought it would. I was pleasantly surprised by how it ended. I would recommend this book as a quick read.
