Biography
Longtime filmmaker/writer RICHARD CLAYMAN has penned the first five of a series of novels, “Town of Beaver Tales”: “Rocky Mountain Sunday,” “Rocky Mountain Tuesday,” “Rocky Mountain Roy,” “Rocky Mountain Roy – The Further Adventures,” and “Rocky Mountain Friday,” available on Kindle/Amazon. The sixth novel is planned for publication in late 2026. Richard also writes, directs, and produces all films for his 19-year-old CLOUDWALKER VIDEOWORKS. His unique place in this arena comes from his 25-year Hollywood career in television, theater, and film. Projects on which Richard has held significant roles have won dozens of Emmys, Golden Globes, and other awards.
Richard started in sports, including the RAMS, RAIDERS, USC TROJANS, and DAVIS CUP tennis, before heading production in his early/mid-twenties on sitcoms such as ALL IN THE FAMILY, SANFORD & SON, MAUDE, ONE DAY AT A TIME, THE JEFFERSONS, GOOD TIMES, DIFF'RENT STROKES, and THE FACTS OF LIFE.
He then added acting to his repertoire, performing in film, TV, and theater.
As a director, his film WHISTLESTOP GIRL was the hit of the Independent Feature Film Market, with The New York Times calling it “A home run.” As a playwright and director, his theatrical plays have won dozens of awards and played to large houses across the country for many years.
Following this, he headed projects, producing, directing, and writing variously for CBS, NBC, ABC, Showtime, The Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Lifetime, and others. He wrote series episodes for CBS (Paradise) and ABC (The Young Riders).
He has also taught at film schools, including almost a decade at what is widely considered the top film school in the world, THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SCHOOL OF CINEMATIC ARTS.
