Ellen Johnson enjoys life in the old-fashioned, seaside town of Sheringham. She teaches at the local University and raises her two adorable children as a single mom. When a newcomer Guy Greenway comes to town, sparks will fly, and she might have finally been granted a second chance at love. But everything is not what it seems in this sleepy little town, nor with Guy, it would appear. When an ancient gift is returned to Ellen one Halloween night, the ability to recall things some will wish her to never remember will turn everything on its head and make her question what evil might lurk beneath the pretty facade of her town.

Guy can look the part of a non-threatening middle-aged man well. His arrival in town seems like the answer to Ellen’s long-held loneliness, and they soon are move in together and building a life. Strange occurrences will mark his person and behavior, though, and these little eccentricities might be something much worse than anyone could imagine. When his girlfriend regains a powerful gift and is once again able to sniff out the paranormal her radar is going to settle on him, and his odd cover stories and clothes. What secrets is the town of Sheringham hiding? Will Ellen’s new abilities be a gift, or a window into an underbelly to this town she will wish she was unable to see?
