When Maya’s father goes to rehab she’s placed in The Girl’s Home by the Sea, a group home for children and teens. Since it’s summer, she’s offered a job at a local ice cream shop. She takes it, with one goal, using the money to run away with her best friend and leave the small town of Ocean Grove behind.
