Description
Red Blackwell, one of the oldest jinn alive, has only two more deals left to his name. Once the deals are gone, he’ll be dead, just ash in the ground. He’s resigned himself to the endless numbing ache that comes with being centuries old, hand poised to knock on Death’s door. But when he meets Cassiopeia Hawthorne, he is immediately reminded of what it is to live.
Cassie’s mother always told her she had a gift, a psychic gift, but if that were true, how come she didn’t see her mother’s death coming? Or the bonus heartache that followed when her boyfriend decided he no longer loved her? Cassie does not think of her abilities as a gift. She thinks of them as a curse. Moving to Blackwater was supposed to be a way for her to disappear into a city of strangers, where she could live alone with her grief, but when she meets Red Blackwell, all of that changes. In one look, she knows his secret—Red is as alone as she is.
When Red offers Cassie a deal, she takes it. But it only takes one wish for them to realize that Fate has other plans for them.
