Description
Music is Emma Grant’s world. Smuggling, blackmail, and murder are her family’s.
When Emma has the opportunity to inherit their family’s century-old recording studio, she jumps at the chance. Her Grandfather Richard has a caveat: After she runs the studio for five years, she’ll be obligated to work in his private business for a short time. While he’s known as an international businessman, underneath the facade, the man runs a criminal empire.
Young and naïve, Emma takes his bait, but by the time the ominous deadline arrives, she’s twenty-nine, reached international acclaim from her studio engineering, and fallen in love with a British rock star. Given her dedication to work, along with juggling her offbeat relationship with her rocker, Emma ignores her Grandfather’s demand. His patience runs out and he nabs her boyfriend his point across.
In order to free her love, Emma acquiesces to her fate and flies to Paris, joining Richard’s nefarious schemes. She smuggles jewels, crossing paths with detestable strangers, and discovers jarring secrets about her family.
Richard soon breaks his side of the agreement, insisting she join him in a new partnership. Emma knows what he’s capable of and plots his demise, but soon realizes she isn’t alone in her desire to bring down her grandfather.
An Interpol general, eager to make arrests at the top of the Grant organization, has kept track of Emma’s recent illegal activities. He forces her to cooperate to avoid prosecution. Using her recent warfare training and instinctive cunning, she sets a dangerous plan into motion, but given her grandfather’s deep connections, setting him up could be her final song.
