Read on to discover my top 5 places to read!

1. Anywhere Outdoors

reading under a tree

If the weather is nice, reading outside can be magical. I love settling down underneath a tree, protected from the glaring sun. It’s even better when there’s a breeze whispering against me, carrying a waft of flowers. When I was a kid, I’d climb trees and read in the branches. I still climb trees sometimes, but last time I forgot to bring a book!

2. Trains, Planes, or Cars

reading in a car

I love traveling. The scenery rushing past us, whether it be in a car, train or plane, is always such a sight. I like getting myself comfy in whatever seat I am in and engross myself in a good story. Sometimes I look up to see the scenery if the book is at a particularly slow part. Before I know it, I’ve arrived. I think it’s the closest thing to teleportation that we’ve got.

3. Coffee Shop

reading in a coffee shop

Cafés are a perfect place for reading (with a side of people-watching!) My husband (slash co-author) and I just moved to a little river town in NY. There’s a wonderful coffee shop here, and I spend many afternoons reading or writing in my favorite chair. The ambiance of the people chattering can set the mood of the book. Plus, my new coffee shop sells the most delicious crepes. The perfect reading treat!

4. Bathtub

reading in a bathtub

While it could result in a disaster, reading in the bath is like an indulgent treat. A bath with some bubbles and at the right temperature is always magnificent. I just have to be careful not to drop my book. Or e-reader! I keep a towel handy just in case.

5. The Chair by the Window

reading in a chair

Matt and I have a “reading nook” in our new apartment. It’s a nice, overstuffed armchair by the window. And it might be my all-time favorite place to read. I keep the essentials nearby: a blanket, a cup of tea, a box of tissues, and a pillow for extra comfort. It’s always a bonus if it’s raining outside. Extra bonus if there’s thunder and lightning.

Happy Reading.

My most favorite place to read is lounging in my recliner. I use my tablet to read. Over my shoulder I have a floor lamp with a sun light bulb.

I, also, take a book to the bathroom to read. I live alone so I can stay in there without anyone hammering on the door.

As a USAF veteran, I take my tablet to the VA to read while waiting for the doctor and prescriptions.

I am 100% service connected disabled and don’t have a lot of things to keep me busy, so I read.(Sometimes I play a difficult level of Mah Jong.)

As a teen, I liked to read outside in the shade of the house or a tree, when I was in the country.

I would sit in a wingback chair with my legs over one of the arms. Or curl up in it.

I would read in bed and still do sometimes. Many a book ended up on the floor when I fell asleep.

From the time my children were about 6 to 9 months old, I read to them a lot. When they got old enough to ask to “read” the book, at bedtime I let them have it and kept their light on for 15 minutes more. Both have high IQ’s and have loved reading since they learned how to really read.

I love to read outdoors o on our deck, in my favorite comfy chair by the french doors, and definitely in bed before falling asleep. The latter almost always guarantees sweet dreams.

I love to read in my sunroom where it is quiet and I can see & feel like I’m outside even though it is too hot or too cold to be outside.
